The Hoes Down Harvest Celebration is made all the more meaningful because every year, a community of people come together and make it happen through their commitment and cooperation. The success of the weekend is the result of the efforts of over 300 dedicated people volunteering their time and energy.

All of the proceeds from the weekend are donated to sustainable agriculture and local Capay Valley organizations and projects.

Volunteering at the Hoes Down Harvest Celebration

The Hoes Down raises critical funds for schools, scholarships, youth programs, agricultural land trusts and community development activities that promote sustainable agriculture and the development of future farmers. In 2006, with your help, we raised almost $50,000 that went to state wide, Yolo County and Capay Valley organizations. We hope to top that number at our 21st annual Hoes Down in 2008.

Volunteers are asked to contribute at least four hours of time. All volunteers will receive admission to the festival for themselves and up to two of their kids under 10 years old. Volunteers will also receive free camping.

Volunteer slots are being filled on an ongoing, first-come, first serve basis. Be aware that the schedule and needs of the Hoes Down are evolving constantly during the months of preparation leading up to the big weekend, so the following information is subject to change.
